John nodded and started moving the plates with food around, so that everyone could get their share. For Terezi, he chose the ones he thought were best. He had to do his best to impress his friend, after all! He took a good bite of his bread and cheese and giggled.

Dave nudged him with a foot beneath the table and snickered.

She called over her shoulder. Kanaya chuckled softly and put her hand on the royal’s shoulder to steer her in the right direction. Rose laughed quietly and stood next to Kanaya.

After a while, John guided them all to the dining hall, which was considerable in size, even if he was sure it couldn’t compare to the one in the castle. A few other servants were already setting food down the long table, having heard the racket coming from the study, and a good assortment of breads, cheeses and wines was waiting for them.

Dave sat on the right of the table, since Dirk usually took the head, and beckoned the rest of the group to sit down too, including John, who sat gingerly by his side.

> we made all of this food in here, terezi! i think i even helped press some of this wine myself.

John souded awfully proud of this.

Kanaya sighed, shaking her head slightly.

Dave sighed once more, running his fingers through his hair.

And then John cut him off with one of his own sighs, and began ushering everyone out.

And before dragging himself out of the study, Dave turned to him and just glared.

But this comment didn’t seem to bother him at all.
